Be the First to
Experience the NEW Eventcom International
Website
We are excited to announce the launch of our
newly designed website that offers a more user
friendly platform for both showcasing our services and
keeping you posted on the latest and greatest news from
the world of Eventcom
International.

When compared to the original website
launched two years ago, the new site is more visually
appealing, easier to navigate and includes more useful
information. Our main goal was to make the experience
for the end-user more pleasurable. We wanted to provide
a quick and easy platform for finding the meeting or
event solution that fits your need, while also offering
features that allow you to feel at ease when working
with Eventcom.
In an effort to continually provide the most
relevant information, we will update the
site on a regular basis with case studies,
newsletters, testimonials, press releases, white papers,
and program/event photos.
Please take a moment to experience the new
website at www.eventcominternational.com.

The New Face of
Teambuilding
With
no exception to industry, most associates have
participated in teambuilding activities at one time or
another. Whether it was a “fall backwards and I’ll catch
you” exercise intended to build trust or an interactive
activity intended to strengthen listening skills,
teambuilding has traditionally been a major focus for
organizations that want to create a cohesive environment
for employees.
Today,
teambuilding continues to evolve and was recently named
one of the 2008 Top 10 Meeting Trends by Benchmark
Hospitality. This may be due in part to the shift from
traditional activities to ones that include a more
creative approach. While the end goal remains the same,
teambuilding is now demonstrated through a variety of
fun activities including culinary cook-offs and white
water rafting races. Robin Malpier of Boston Market has
taken an original approach to teambuilding by allowing
employees the opportunity to help people in
need.
 |
 |
“We’ve done the usual
teambuilding exercises, but this program was much
better,” said Malpier. “We really liked combining
the charity project into the teambuilding. We
learned a lot and in the process we helped the
abused women’s shelter.”
Marriott International also
takes a creative approach to teambuilding. During
customer appreciation events, both Marriott
employees and clients are invited to work
side-by-side while participating in Spirit to
Serve
projects. |
Spirit to Serve is
Marriott’s initiative to provide outstanding service and
goodwill to associates, customers and the community.
Activities often include making and sending care
packages to soldiers and building homes for Habitat for
Humanity. These projects not only encourage bonding
among employees, but also strengthen relationships
between Marriott’s sales representatives and their
clients.
Tim Buividas, who facilitates
some of Eventcom's teambuilding exercises, emphasizes
the importance of creating a unique experience for each
client he works with.
“The goal is to make the
experience both meaningful and unique,” said Buividas.
“No two events are alike. Group projects range from
assembling bikes for kids to creating care packages for
flood victims,” he added. “The core skills of
communication, risk-taking, negotiation and organization
are still the primary focus, but the team projects are
more relevant and community
service-based.”
No matter how different and
exciting the activity, the purpose of teambuilding has
essentially remained the same - to contribute to the
growth of each participant while building relationships
and improving communication. Companies will continue to
invest in employee development, and teambuilding is a
tool that strengthens skills while allowing for a
break from static activities like listening to
motivational speakers during meetings and events. An
old-fashioned pep talk is useful from time to time, but
companies seem to think getting people both physically
and mentally active are the keys to
success.
